MBS Introduction

Master of Business Studies (MBS) is a two year, four semester based program of Faculty of Management, TU. This is one of the most sought degree in Nepal. The course is designed in order to develop skills in students for being able to take higher level managerial position in public and private sectors.

A good management and knowledge of business is required to run any organization efficiently. At this scenario, MBS graduates having very lucrative career prospects. In fact business is that field which provides you name, fame, money and power. MBS graduates, can work in various positions like business managers, administrators, accountants, financial officers, marketing officers, analysts etc. in banks, small and big corporate houses hospitals and hotels, factories and industries, schools and colleges, etc. Every year large numbers of graduates are enrolled by these organizations as per their academic and professional qualifications. One can also get jobs as writer, teacher, academician, researcher, editor, journalist, etc. concerned with business. One can also be university lecturers, government officers, business advisers, directors, etc. after the graduation. This degree has good scope in the developed countries where graduates have multiple opportunities to learn and earn.

Objectives of MBS program

The objective of the MBS programme is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management. Upon graduation, a student should be able to function as a manager in business, industry, government and non governmental sector, within and outside the country, in areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management.
  • Equip students with required conceptual knowledge of business and management.
  • Prepare managers in the functional areas of management.
  • Develop knowledge and skill of business environment in national and global perspective.
  • Encourage enterpreneurial capabilities in students to make them effective change agents in the Nepalese society.
  • Develop research capability in the students.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for admission: The student applying for admission to MBS course must have successfully completed the BBS/BBA programme or a bachelor degree on any discipline from Tribhuvan University or from any other university recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Admission Criteria
Written Test:
The eligible candidates should appear in CMAT entrace test (Central Management Aptitude Test) conducted by Faculty of Management. The test fiollows the standards of international testing system. Questions cover the areas such as verbal skill testing, quantitative technique analyusis, logical examining and general knowledge and awareness testing.

Interview: Students who have got the minimum 40% marks will be called for interview. They will be selected for admission as per merit list.
